About Jane

Jane's career as an artist began as a toddler when she held her crayons against the hot oil stove watching the colors run and blend into beautiful patterns. From then on her father, also an artist, kept her supplied with art materials.

Jane attended the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University acquiring a BA and MA in Fine Arts, Guidance and Counseling, and Education. She taught art and elementary school for many years.

Jane's Artwork

Jane is basically a "real life" artist, though her work contains her own interpretations and creative ideas. Being a native of Arizona, her love of the desert flora is the primary focus of her art, however, she has also created paintings featuring animals, figures, and still life.

Jane is an award winning and published artist whose medium is colored pencil. Her painting 'Morning Light' appears in the book "Colored Pencil Explorations" by Janie Gildow and her painting 'Moonlit Magic' was featured in the International Artist Magazine's "How did you paint that?". Jane's painting 'Lupine', in the permanent collection of Zion National Park, has also been published in the new book "A Century of Sanctuary" which showcases art from the Park's collection.

Awards

Starting in 1999, her first colored pencil piece was selected to be in the state colored pencil show and her work has continued in the state show each year, always winning an award, including several first places.

Her work has been selected in seven International CPSA Shows rewarding her a signature membership. Her work has also been accepted into four Explore This! CPSA Shows.

In 2007, Jane's drawing 'Glowing' was selected as a finalist in the prestigious "Blossom--Art of Flowers" Competition, Museum Exhibition and subsequent 2007-2008 national museum tour. There were 1742 entries and her picture was one of fifty chosen.

In the fall of 2006, her painting 'Fairy Duster' was selected by "Women Artists of America" for their December Show in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In August 2007, Jane's painting 'Lupine' was accepted in the Zion National Park Centennial Exhibit and toured with that show from February 2008 to December 2009.

In 2009, Jane had the honor of having 'Lupine' added to the permanent collection at the St. George Art Museum, St. George, Utah, which houses the Zion National Park Exhibit.
